HOW TO ACCESS THE PROJECT CONTROL ENGINEERING FTP SERVER
1. Downloading files from the FTP server:
Using any internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape, anyone can access Project Control Engineering's FTP server very easily by entering ftp://ftp.pce-eng.com in the URL address line in their browser window.
This will bring up a list of file names and directories that are currently on the ftp server. When a directory name is clicked, that directory will open to reveal a list of files and/or directories. When a file name is clicked, the system will attempt to start a download procedure. The user will then be required to point to a location on their hard drive or network drive indicating where they would like this file saved.
2. Uploading files to the FTP server:
This cannot be done with Internet Explorer, but can be done with Netscape Navigator. After connecting to the FTP server, as in step 1 above, the user must select File Upload from the File menu in Netscape Navigator. This will open a window called File Upload where the user can select a file from their hard drive or a network drive. Then when the Open button is clicked the selected file will be sent to the FTP server.
If Netscape Navigator is not available, then another alternative is to download some FTP Client software, such as WS_FTP from Ipswitch. There are several other similar software packages available on the internet. We have a shareware version of WS_FTP on our FTP server available for download.
3. Private directories
When required, we can set up private, password protected directories on our FTP server. Please talk to Todd Gamble (810) 794-1931 xt:228 or email tgamble@pce-eng.com to set up a private directory. New, non-protected directories can be created with the use of the FTP client software only(not Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator).
